The 1133 Elite

Since 2013, The 1133 Elite has focused on offering DC residents access to up-to-date knowledge regarding technology and business. The organization’s core principle is about sharing the wealth—especially with the city’s youth. By honing into their passion for technology, providing mentorship opportunities in often-overlooked neighborhoods, and hands-on planning for their futures, The 1133 Elite hopes to open teens’ minds beyond the call of the streets.

Working with DC’s youth is at the core of 1133 Elite’s mission. Through engaging educational sessions, teens learn not only basic workplace skills, but also get exposed to entrepreneurship mentoring, providing them with an array of post-education career options. Beyond training, the 1133 Elite expresses the importance of encouraging teens to expand their horizons by exploring the world beyond their neighborhoods.

THE FOUNDER

EMIL ROBINSON

Founded by DC-native Emil Robinson, The 1133 Elite is inspired by Robinson’s own youth in an innovative program he attended in high school, which provided a scholarship and training to him.

The program opened his mind to possibilities and changed his life, steering him toward pursuing a degree in IT and landing a career in the Federal Government. As he sought to give back to the community, he realized that he needed to expand on that idea on a larger scale.

The District has always been at the heart of what The 1133 Elite is about. Beyond education, The 1133 Elite is known for hosting safe and fun events for all ages throughout the city. But it’s more than events. It’s connecting people and forming lifelong bonds. It shows that by working hard, you can play hard. It’s live music that speaks to the community.
